The Woman behind the Reads
Hi! I'm Mary Pogue, and I live and breathe books. Once I was placed in a play pen surrounded by books, I was destined be a life-long reader and eventual writer. Little did I know that my mom's "play pen distraction" would turn me into a voracious, speed-reader who can digest 100+ books a year and remember every detail about them.

I am 27 years old and a proud St. Louisian who loves its sports teams, close-knit community, restaurants and landmarks. However, I truly consider myself a woman of two cities because I have spent half my life in two cities who proudly claim the fleur de lis their own - Louisville, KY and St. Louis, MO.
I am a proud graduate of Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY and obtained a B.A. in Communication with minors in writing and marketing in 2018. As a Knight, I was a DII student-athlete for the BU Knights Field Hockey team and sports/lifestyle writer for the newspaper, The Concord. My love for writing and creativity jumpstarted my career in social media marketing where I started as a social media specialist in St. Louis after graduation. And now, I work full-time as a senior copywriter for a marketing and branding agency.
Today, I run the Show Me Reads Blog and Instagram, where I share my love of books, coffee shops and traveling the midwest and more. During my free-time, I can be found coaching competitive field hockey, trying a new restaurant with my husband, exercising outdoors or spending time with those who mean most to me.
My goal for this blog is to help others find good books and spark a love for reading in others in St. Louis and beyond. I am so happy you are here, and I cannot wait to help you grow your love of reading!
